Nine-Years Ago (19-May-2007) — Colorado.

Early Springtime Nature in Colorado. Rocky Mountain National Park and Boulder Falls.

Back in 2007 I was assigned to do a technology transfer project where I got to live in Boulder, Colorado two weeks a month for ~18 months. This allowed me to spend my weekends discovering Colorado, and see all four seasons of Rocky Mountain National Park. It was a great opportunity to better learn how to use a digital camera. Three of the images were taken in Rocky Mountain National Park – A Red Crossbill (the bird is yellow), Purple Columbine wildflowers at Lily Lake, and a Panorama at Bear Lake (best viewed full screen).  I remember that he hike around the lake was a bit difficult as there was still a lot of snow on the trail. The final image is Patrick at Boulder Falls — one of the folks I hired to help with the technology transfer. I wonder what the waterfall looks like now after the flash floods a couple years ago.

Gone to See Central America and the Panama Canal. Semester at Sea Spring 2011 Enrichment Voyage on the MV Explorer. Ultimate Travel Photography Workshop II with Michael Mariant. Day 21: At Sea.

Sunset over the Gulf of Mexico from the deck of the M/V Explorer. We were about 60 miles due south of Key West. This was our last sunset and night at sea for the voyage. Too much haze so no green flash. Image taken with a Nikon D3x camera and 70-300 mm VR lens (ISO 320, 300 mm, f/5.6, 1/250 sec).

Gone to See Central America and the Panama Canal. Semester at Sea Spring 2011 Enrichment Voyage on the MV Explorer. Ultimate Travel Photography Workshop II with Michael Mariant. Day 19: At Sea.

Sunrise Aboard the MV Explorer. Image taken with a Nikon D3s camera and 24 mm lens (ISO 200, 24 mm, f/16, 1/60 sec).  One thing we learned during the voyage (the hard way) was the need to take the camera and lens out on deck at least 30 minutes before taking any images to prevent fogging due to moisture condensing on the lens.
