Thirteen-Years Ago (28-January-2007) — Norway

Gone to See Norway 2007 Family Winter Vacation. Day 8: Hurtigruten MS Kong Harald Norwegian Coastal Voyage Northbound (Øksfjord to Berlevåg).

As we departed Havøysund a large Golden Eagle was soaring over the harbor. I don’t remember seeing fish farms in that location, but did note that Tøbo Fisk had a fish processing plant near where we docked.

Four-Years Ago (27-January-2016) — Japan

Gone to See the World. Semester at Sea Spring 2016 Voyage on the MV World Odyssey. Day 22: Overland Field Trip. Miyajima.

We took the ferry from Hiroshima to Miyajima. We spent the morning and afternoon walking about. I noticed a large Crow or Raven in a pine tree. Later on a Rock Pigeon on the ground, and a Black Kite flying overhead.

Wintertime Nature in Rocky Mountain National Park.

One of my many trips to Rocky Mountain National Park while working part-time at Sirna in Boulder, Colorado. I saw a number of Black-billed Magpies while stopped near Moraine Park.

Thirteen-Years Ago (25-January-2007) — Norway

Gone to See Norway 2007 Winter Family Vacation. Day 5: Hurtigruten MS Kong Harald Norwegian Coastal Voyage Northbound (Trondheim and Rørvik).

While we were docked in Trondheim I noticed a number of ducks in the water. One of them appeared to be a Mallard Duck. I didn’t realize that the Mallards ranged into Europe. Today, I think I could have taken a sharper image.

Gone to See Norway 2007 Winter Family Vacation. Day 4: Hurtigruten MS Kong Harald Norwegian Coastal Voyage Northbound (Florø to Kristandsund).

While the MS Kong Harald was docking in Torvik, I noticed a large heron like bird on a rock. I later identified it as a Grey Heron. It looks very similar to the Great Heron found in North America.
