Backyard Springtime Nature in New Jersey.

The rain returned. I wasn’t able to do any work on the garden today. Yesterday I planted another fifty orange day lilies among my daffodils. I often see them along the roads here in the summer, so hope that the deer don’t like them. I don’t expect to see any flowers this year, but hope to next summer. We will see. The “mile a minute” vine is a real pain. It is invasive and overgrows everything, like kudzu in the south. I think the deer brought it here. Talking about deer, this doe was just outside my laundry room door.

Sunday (07-May-2017) — New Jersey

Springtime Nature in New Jersey.

First Sunday in the Park organized by Montgomery Friends of Open Space. This month it was a walk through Rock Mill Preserve looking for spring wildflowers led by Sarah Roberts. Although it was cool and there were a few sprinkles, we did see a number of wildflower and other spring growth along the trail. Images taken with a Fuji X-T1 camera and 60 mm f/2.4 macro lens.

Three-Years Ago (01-May-2014) — New Jersey

Backyard Springtime Nature in New Jersey.

The water was still running heavy in the nearby Rock Brook. A tree had fallen into the stream and got caught by the bridge. The Dogwood trees were in bloom, and the Carpenter Bees were out looking to drill holes into the wood exterior of my house.  I’m not sure what type of tree or shrub it is where the leaves appear to be emerging from a pod.
